10.15am - 10.55am

Teacher: Alex Beck, Senior Manager, Wealth Managers & Advisers

The recent Treasury rule changes to EIS investment structures have affected the level of risk that you and your clients face. We highlight how that risk can be managed and explore the importance of diversification and a clear, credible and coherent investment strategy when selecting the right fund manager for your clients.

By the end of the session, you will be clearer on the EIS market and managing risk within it. You will also be able to claim CPD following this presentation via our Adviser Resource Area.

11.00am - 11.15am

Teacher:  Jo OliverFund manager, Octopus Titan VCT

The changing landscape for VCTs

Since their introduction in 1995, venture capital trusts (VCTs) have provided investment into smaller companies, helping them to grow, create jobs and bolster the UK economy.

During this session Octopus will outline how VCTs work and the potential risks and benefits involved. We’ll also take a closer look at Octopus Titan VCT – the UK’s biggest venture capital trust – and the kind of companies it invests in. By the end of this session you will have a clearer understanding of how VCTs work and how they could help your clients.

11.15am - 11.55am

Teacher:  David Beacham, Head of Distribution, Goji Investments

Direct Lending was the fastest-growing asset class in 2017. Much of that came from institutions, but a significant proportion came from direct investments in to P2P platforms. In this session, Goji will provide an overview of the sector, explain the risks involved, the regulations, what would potentially happen during an economic downturn, and discuss the type of clients it might be suitable for. By the end of the session, advisers will be clearer on the opportunity to provide advice in this area, which could potentially offer a new revenue stream for their firms.

12.00am - 12.40am

Teacher: Matthew Steiner, Business Development Director, Stellar Asset Management

Investments which allow advisers to facilitate the efficient transfer of intergenerational wealth for their clients
